Meat Lovers Unite

Efficiency1st calls on meat lovers throughout the world to unite against PETA.

Efficiency1st has today launched an internet campaign aimed at reversing the decision by Adidas to stop using mulesed wool in its products. Spokesman for Efficiency 1st Mr Charlie McCowen said that “the PETA campaign against the wool industry had been a campaign of misinformation but more importantly consumers were left unaware of the downstream fallout when firms acquiesced to PETA’s demands”. “Firstly mulesing is not cruel” Mr McCowen said “more importantly the alternatives to mulesing would increase carbon emissions and increase the use of chemicals in the wool industry at a time when most growers were reducing or completely eradicating chemical use”

According to Efficiency1st “The PETA campaign is completely irresponsible in forcing an increase in carbon emissions through the additional crutching and shearing that un-mulesed sheep would require, emissions would also be increased through the extra use of chemicals”.

“At a time when the world is seeking to reduce emissions and consumers are bracing for increased food and fibre costs as a result, the PETA campaign is way off line.” Mr McCowen said.

But Mr McCowen pointed out that the PETA campaign has an even more dangerous “sting in the tail” for consumers. “PETA make no secret that their aim is to force veganism onto the wider populace, any success in their campaign against the wool industry will be transferred to livestock industries generally. Meat eaters need to unite to let PETA know that choice of diet is a personal decision”. “If PETA don’t like eating meat then it’s their right not to do so” Mr McCowen said. “however PETA have no right to force others to comply through sneaky campaigns that ignore facts and use misinformation and emotion to blackmail consumers and companies.”

Efficiency1st is asking meat lovers to email Adidas and let them know that their decision to support PETA will affect purchasing decisions in the future. More details are available from the efficiency1st web site, http://www.efficiency1st.org
